Giannis Mourgelas

Giannis Mourgelas was born in Washington, D.C in 1952.
He began his career in 1979 as a member of Athens Bar Association, specializing in commercial and banking law. Since then he has been acting as legal counsel and has served as member of the Boards of Directors of Greek and foreign companies, including credit and financial institutions, such as credit and debit card companies, factoring companies and payment system companies and has served as General Manager of General Bank of Greece SA.
Giannis Mourgelas is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of interbank company "TIRESIAS Bank Information Systems SA", since 1999 and Legal Advisor of Greek Banks Association, since 1986.
He participates in “Legal Committee of European Banking Association” and he is a member of the "Rules and Regulatory Working Group" of Mastercard Europe.
He has published articles and papers in acclaimed law journals, while he frequently writes articles in Greek financial press.
